How to enter

1. Visit your local bookshop on #LYBD2026
Head to an ABA member bookshop on Saturday 10 October 2026 and purchase a book by an Australian author or illustrator. Choose a book by a First Nations creator and you’ll receive a double entry. Remember to keep your proof of purchase.

2. Enter online
Come back to this page and complete the competition entry form. Tell us which bookshop you visited and what Australian book you bought.
Entries will be open until 10am AEST on 12 October 2026.

3. You could win $1000 to spend at a bookshop!
One winner will receive a $1000 Love Your Bookshop Gift Card, giving you plenty of reasons to head back to a participating bookshop and start filling your shelves.

What’s the prize?
The winner will receive a $1,000 Love Your Bookshop Gift Card to spend at any bookshop that accepts Love Your Bookshop Gift Cards.

Conditions of entry:

  • Limit of one entry per person. Entry is only open to Australian residents. Entries close 10am AEST, 12 October 2026.
  • Winners will be selected and notified on 19 October 2026.
  • The winner will be notified via email and will be required to provide an Australian postal address to receive their prize. If the winner does not provide an address within five days, the prize will be forfeited, and a new winner selected.
  • The winner consents to the ABA using the entry on social media.
  • All entries remain property of the ABA, the judge’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • The prize is not redeemable for cash.
