Love Your Bookshop Day is back on Saturday 10 October, celebrating bookshops, booksellers and the conversations that lead us to great books. This year, we’re asking readers to step away from the algorithms and ask a bookseller.
Booksellers know that finding your next great read isn’t always about what’s trending or what everyone else is reading. A conversation with a bookseller can introduce you to a new author, an unexpected favourite or exactly the right book at exactly the right time.
That’s the idea behind our 2026 theme: Ask a bookseller. Shake up your shelf.
Whether you read all the time, want to get back into reading, need something completely different or are searching for the perfect gift, your local bookseller is a very good place to start.
Meet our 2026 ambassadors
This year we’re delighted to have Birds of a Feather Book Club and Tough Guy Book Club joining us as Love Your Bookshop Day ambassadors.
Birds of a Feather Book Club
Founded by Bec Sparrow and Jane Sullivan, Birds of a Feather Book Club has built a nationwide community of women connecting through books, both online and in person.
Bec and Jane are big believers in the bookseller recommendation and the joy of being handed a book you might never have chosen for yourself.
Tough Guy Book Club
Tough Guy Book Club began in a Melbourne pub and has grown to more than 195 chapters in Australia and overseas, bringing men together to read, talk about books and share a beer.
Founder Shay Leighton believes sometimes people who want to read more simply need an invitation, and a great bookseller can be the person who helps them find the book that gets them started.

On Saturday 10 October, bookshops around Australia will be celebrating with events, activities, special offers and plenty of opportunities to talk books.
